Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo

CyberMotion celebrates a record-breaking achievement at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö

In this showcase, we’ll dive into everything about our CyberHoists at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. We’ll provide a sneak peek behind the scenes of ESC and share details about our record-breaking achievement.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024

This year, the Eurovision Song Contest was spectacularly hosted in Malmö, Sweden, following the country’s victory in 2023 with Loreen’s hit song “Tattoo”. The event spanned from Tuesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 11, and it marked a monumental achievement for CyberMotion. We were thrilled to have CyberHoist play a pivotal role in the production.

We would like to express our gratitude for the successful collaboration with our client, Litecom Group, and the support of our CyberMotion rental partners: Ampco Flashlight Rental (Netherlands), RCL (Germany), AMG International (Italy), Pink Panther (Czechia), and Stage Riggers Group (Slovakia). The impeccable set design by Florian Wieder, the crisp and captivating lighting design by Fredrik Stormby, and the outstanding technical direction by Ola Melzig have been instrumental in this project’s success.

CyberMotion is honored to have contributed to the performances of all participating countries, elevating the stage with an extraordinary level of automation.

World record for most CyberHoists in a single show

This edition of Eurovision Song Contest saw a world record with an astounding 186 CyberHoists used in one show, the largest number ever utilized in the history of televised events. Additionally, the show featured 2 MotionCue3D consoles, executed 311 precise cues, and managed 57 dynamic objects with a total weight of 43,000 kg. This achievement underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence in motion control.

Behind the scenes of ESC

Preparations began five weeks prior to the contest, with various teams converging in Malmö to set up what would become one of the most technologically advanced stages ever constructed for Eurovision Song Contest. Our teams worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the performance technology was flawless. Click here for a backstage video from ESC 2024.

Furthermore, the CyberHoist Racks platform is the core from which all CyberHoists are controlled. This strategic platform allows for the complete management of the show’s dynamic movements and can halt the entire performance if necessary, serving as the unseen powerhouse behind the spectacle. Thanks to our partners!

CyberMotion extends heartfelt thanks to all our partners and the Eurovision team for making this record-breaking event possible. Special thanks to main contractor Litecom Group and their rental partners: Ampco Flashlight Rental, RCL, AMG International, Pink Panther and Stage Riggers Group. We look forward to pushing the boundaries of stage motion in future productions and continuing to contribute to the magic of live entertainment.
