Creating a live show that captivates thousands of people while running seamlessly behind the scenes is no small feat. It requires a careful balance of innovation, precision, and collaboration. For the Tiësto Prismatic Live show in Mexico City CyberMotion Rental US delivered the motion automation platform that transformed the stage into a living, dynamic environment fully integrated with lighting, video, and lasers. This project highlights how motion technology can play a central role both creatively and operationally in large scale live productions.
Project overview and creative vision
The Tiësto Prismatic Live show in Mexico City was a large scale production with a venue capacity of more than 25,000 people. The four-hour show was designed to keep the audience engaged from start to finish without relying on traditional special effects. Bart Roelen, founder of Unlimited Productions, and long time Production Director for Tiësto led the project. He has been involved with the Tiësto brand since 2001 and has guided its growth from club shows to global touring productions. For this project, he focused on the overall creative and technical direction, making sure every element matched the artistic vision. The set and lighting design were developed by Ian Tomlinson from High Scream and Tiësto’s Show Creative Concept & Artist Manager, Bo Basic. The creative concept was translated into a fully realized technical production by Unlimited Productions BV, with Logra serving as the technical supplier for all production elements, including audio, lighting, rigging, video, lasers, staging, and special FX.
Design and technology
The main design goal for the Mexico City show was a stage that could change shape, density, and visual presentation throughout the performance. The original concept featured five long trusses, but after discussions with CyberMotion and a closer look at the production’s complexity the design was expanded to fifteen moving trusses, each supported by three CyberHoists, resulting in a total of forty-five hoists. This allowed the stage to shift configurations in real time without manual input. CyberMotion was chosen for its precise, scalable, and reliable technology and the long standing collaboration with Bart Roelen and Ampco Flashlight dating back to 2006. Working directly with CyberMotion allowed real-time consultation on rigging, mechanical tolerances, and system integration ensuring the solution fully matched the creative vision.
System integration and operation
A key feature of the production was full integration of motion with lighting, video, and lasers via the PSN protocol. Truss movements were synchronized with musical cues, lighting changes, and visual content, creating a seamless audiovisual experience. Lighting fixtures stayed focused on Tiësto as trusses moved above and around him, video content remained mapped to moving surfaces, and laser elements followed the same spatial paths as the trusses. The system was operated by a compact team of a project manager, a CyberHoist technician, and an operator. All equipment was pre-rigged and tested ahead of time allowing plug-and-play installation and fast deployment on site, with adjustments made as the show approached to ensure all performance requirements were met.
Production challenges and audience impact
The venue in Mexico City presented technical challenges including limited hanging points and operation on generator power instead of a fixed electrical grid. The CyberMotion system delivered stable and continuous performance throughout the four-hour show. Every cue and movement remained synchronized. The technical approach had a strong impact on audience engagement and online visibility, with videos and photos of the moving stage and coordinated visuals widely shared across social media generating positive responses from fans and industry professionals. By relying on lighting, video, lasers, and motion instead of traditional effects the production demonstrated that integrated motion technology can be a primary creative tool in live entertainment.
The power of motion
The Tiësto Prismatic Live show in Mexico City shows how integrated motion technology can elevate live entertainment. Fifteen moving trusses powered by forty-five CyberHoists and fully synchronized with lighting, video, and lasers transformed the stage into a dynamic, interactive, and visually striking environment. CyberMotion gave the creative team the tools to deliver a show that was both reliable and visually transformative, setting a new benchmark for large scale touring productions.
